Crystal chandeliers in the past were often associated to manor houses and huge gorgeous estates because they were considered an expensive item of lighting to own. Nowadays
crystal chandeliers are a lot more accessible and affordable and so no matter how grand your home is you can find a style of chandelier to suit your home and your budget. There are however some pitfalls when it comes to crystal chandeliers that are very easy to fall into but must be avoided at all costs. For example when you begin your shopping journey and see all the amazing crystal chandeliers out there you may get a little carried away and go for the all singing and dancing chandelier option. When you return home with the chandelier you will soon realise that the chandelier takes up the whole room and looks really out of place. This is one major pitfall to avoid.
Never choose crystal chandeliers based on the chandelier itself, yes they are very pretty and sparkly and look fabulous in the show home but you need to think about what your home is like and what it will look there.
Crystal chandeliers can hang very low, usually the larger they are the lower they hang and so if you have low ceilings but a wide area go for a smaller chandelier even though you have the room for something bigger because it will hang too low. Never choose design over function. Sometimes crystal chandeliers can be quite limited in the amount of light it gives off usually this is due to the design. If you require a lot of
lighting in the room where the chandelier will be placed choose a different style, even if you find a chandelier you love and feel like you must have, choose the functionality over the looks, you will be happy you did once you start to use it. There is nothing worse than having a light in a room that doesn’t give much light and you have to use other sources of
lights to actually use the room.
