Event
lighting is particularly important because it sets the whole scene and can really affect the mood and end result of a show, occasion or night. When the lighting is too strong in a room for a party or occasion it makes people feel on edge rather than relaxed and at ease, this in turn will affect how people interact with each other and in turn they will come away from that night feeling uptight. If that
lighting had of been low and set right for the mood people would feel completely loosened up and would have come away thinking what a great night. The lighting of an event is critical to the success of the occasion.
When considering the lighting for your event you need to think about what the occasion is for and what the guests of the event will be doing. If the event is mostly for socializing and talking then the lighting should be low but not too dark people can’t see who they are talking to. If the event is more of a dancing event then lighting should reflect the type of dancing and music that will be displayed, ballroom dancing would not be good with strobe lighting for example. If the event is more task heavy such as a modeling catwalk then the lighting needs to be a little lighter, as people need to see the outfits clearly and take notes. You may find that your event requires two different types of lighting such as a childrens party where they need high lights for games and eating lunch and then turning the lights lower for the dancing part. All of the different actions of the event need to be considered and then the lighting needs to be worked in around this. Planning the
lighting as much as possible is a sure fire way of having a very successful event that all your guests will enjoy.
