How to Clean Outdoor Lighting
Having outdoor lighting for your home is a great way of increasing security and improving the look of your outside area. It is important to keep your outdoor lighting clean because this can diminish the look of the lights, just because the lighting is outside the home it will still need cleaning. Outdoor lighting can turn any garden or driveway into a beautiful setting even if you don’t do anything else to the area. Cleaning your lighting outdoors is quite similar to cleaning your indoor lighting.
Cleaning Outdoor Lighting Instructions
There are many safety precautions to take when cleaning lighting due to dealing with water and electricity and so be sure to turn off the light or even the electricity before you begin cleaning the outdoor fixture. It is recommended to also check the cleaning instructions of the lighting fixture which are provided on purchase. Take a bucket and fill it with warm water and add a cleaning solution, you can buy cleaning solution from your local supermarket. Be sure the cleaning solution is suitable for an outdoor lighting fixture. Using this warm soapy water take a cloth and wipe over the lighting fixture cleaning away the dirt and muck. Be careful not to get too much water in or on the light, it is an electrical product after all and too much water can damage or break the light. Repeat the wiping process as much as needed until the light fixture is completely clean, rinsing the cloth in the water as you go along. Remember to clean the inside of the outdoor lighting fixture as well as the outside if possible. More often than not mud or dirt gets inside the outdoor lighting fixture and so it is best to clean this out if the design of the lighting fixture lets you. Once the fixture is cleaned now take a dry cloth and dry the fixture thoroughly. This will ensure no streak marks will be left on the outdoor light and it will get rid of any excess water.
