Light Switches Controls

A light switch is a switch device that turns a lighting fixture on and off. There are many different styles of light switches available today such as a toggle, a push button, a rocker, etc. There are also other types of light switches that not only turn the light on and off but they can dim the light to different shades, they can be set on a timer so the light turns on and off at particular times, and they can be by touch. Here is a look at some of the different types of lights switches controls and for what type of lights they are best suited.

Dimmer Light Switch – a dimmer light switch is a knob that can be turned which is hooked up to the main lighting in a room and by turning the dimmer you can control how strong the light is. This is great for creating mood lighting such as in living rooms when you are relaxing you can turn the lights down, or in a bedroom when you need to get ready or require extra light you can turn the lights up to full strength. Dimmer light switches are great in dinning rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms.

Light Switch Timer – a timer is a device that turns a piece of equipment on at a particular time and turns it off at another particular point of time. The timer on a light switch is the same, you set the timer so the lights come on at say 8pm and then you set it to turn off at 3am. Light switch timers are great for if you are going on holiday and you don’t want people to know your house is empty for safety reasons. They are also great for outdoor lighting for security measures to light up your garden and drive way area at night time but turns off during the day so not to waste electricity.

Touch Light Switches – the control of  touch light switches is in the name, it’s by touch. You can turn your lights on and off by your touch. It is more common to see touch lamps, which is great for bedroom lamps on the night stand, instead of having to search for the switch on the cord you can simply and easily touch the lamp and it turns off. Another form of this type of light control is audible. It works the same way as touch but instead of touch it works by hearing a noise such as clapping your hands together. When the controls hear this clapping sound the lights will turn on or off.
