It can actually get quite confusing when you are looking at buying
light switches due to the variety that are out there on the market. There are various styles and sizes so they do tend to blend in as part of the room so they do need to cover a wide range of possibilities.
You can have switches which are even on cords which are more commonly seen in bathrooms and even these can be more personalised by the weight that sits at the bottom of the cord. However, when you step out of the bathroom the switches do change according to the surroundings.
It is possible to have dual
light switches so you can operate more than one light from the one switch. This is most commonly used when you are controlling a hall light along with a light at the front door as they can both run from the same wiring system.
In the lounge you can choose between a normal light switch or what is called a dimmer switch. The dimmer switch is ideal for setting a much softer lighting tone which can of course come in useful in certain situations.
Clearly in a lounge you are wanting a better looking switch than just a normal white plastic so you can often have them in some form of metal which may be brass, chromed or even a combination. You can of course also get them in different sizes which can suit a variety of needs.
It is always going to be best to get a qualified electrician to come and install them for you as anything to do with electricity should not be messed with. You can of course look at hiring one and they can advise you on the
light switches first of all so this is another option that is available to you.
