It has become a popular activity over the last couple of decades to decorate the outside of our homes and gardens with Christmas outdoor lighting and lighting scenes. It is great around the Christmas time when you are driving about your neighbourhood and you see a whole array of people’s gardens having been decorated with Christmas outdoor lighting. There is always one or two people who go overboard and instead of their homes looking magical and Christmassy look a little too bright and too much and so try and avoid this pitfall.

Always pick a theme for your Christmas outdoor lighting, having bits and pieces all over the place will make your home appear messy, the same applies to a colour scheme. Try and choose all the same pieces of the same colour so there is continuity throughout your outdoor lighting. String outdoor lighting is perfect to dress up the outside of your home and will fit perfectly with your other pieces.

 

Use the whole space you have available including the garden and driveway area, you do not have to stick to the house itself. Placing a couple of lighting reindeers on the garden while Santa Claus is on the roof is a great way of utilizing your space but still creating a theme. Think outside the box, if you want to be a little different why not go for something different than the obvious Father Christmas scene, how about Snowmen playing in the snow, or decorate an outside tree as if it were your Christmas tree.
