There are factors that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to low level lighting as it can be trickier than your usual ceiling lighting. Because Low level
lighting is so low it can get in peoples way and the light can be harsh on the eyes. Depending on how low the lighting fixture is you will need to consider people’s safety, for example if the light hangs very low and people can walk into it potentially causing an accident it is a good idea to place it over a piece of furniture such as over the dining room table, or a centre piece in the hallway. When the lighting is so low the glare can shine into people’s eyes and so try sitting and standing at different heights and positions to check the glare if you are sitting or standing or for people of a different height. This is especially important around the dinning room table as the lighting may be fine standing but sitting down it could shine right into your eyes which would make it very uncomfortable.
Chandeliers make for great lights that are low hanging because they are so grand in appearance and they look better in rooms with large spaces. If your budget does not lend to a crystal chandelier think about low pendent
lights, or a Tiffany’s shade. There are lights today that are controlled by a remote so you can control how high and low they hang and change it accordingly easily and quickly.
