Pendant Lights and Chandeliers

Pendent lights and chandeliers are often considered the same type of light fixture mainly because they hang down low from the ceiling by a chain or cord and they have lights hanging at the end of them. A pendent light is quite different to chandelier lights because it only has to have one light to be a pendent light whereas a chandelier has arms and many lights. Pendent lights can have more than on light but they do not have arms.

Pendent lights and chandeliers look great in hallways, dining rooms and living rooms if the house has a wide space and high ceilings. Using these types of lights on low ceilings can make the room feel cramped as it will draw all the walls together. Pendent lights are great for adding elegance to a room because they are beautiful and eye catching. If you really want to go for the extravagant look then a chandelier is perfect for the job. A crystal chandelier in your dining room over the grand table is a great way of adding sparkle and the wow factor to your home. Placing a chandelier in the bedroom is a brilliant idea because it gives a sense of femininity and softness to your bedroom without it having to be pink or flowery.

A great look to create with pendent lights is to have many in a row hanging down either over a dining table or a seating area. You may have seen this effect in posh restaurants or designer hotels. It’s a fabulous use of space placing the pendent lights in a row and it looks very fashionable and stylish. It’s a good idea to choose a funky styled pendent light for this type of effect as it’s a modern look, go for a striking colour such as red or green or any shade that will fit with your current décor.
