IP ratings
Bathroom lighting requires specific Ingress Protection (IP) ratings based on how close the fixture is to water sources, ensuring safety against moisture and compliance with UK electrical regulations.

Bathroom Zones and IP Ratings

Zone 0: Inside the bath tub or shower basin. Requires IP67 (submersible).

Zone 1: Directly above the bath or shower up to a height of 2.25 meters from the floor. Requires a minimum of IP44/IPX4, though IP65 is heavily recommended by electricians to handle water jets and steam.

Zone 2: The area stretching 0.6 meters outside the perimeter of the bath or shower, and around wash basins within 60cm of a tap up to 2.25m high. Requires a minimum of IP44.

Outside Zones: Anywhere outside these spaces where water contact is unlikely. No strict IP rating is legally mandated, but IP44 is widely recommended to guard against general room humidity and condensation.
Colour temperature
Choosing the right colour temperature for a bathroom depends on function and mood. Use 2700K to
3000K (warm white) for a cozy spa-like feel, 3500K to 4000K (neutral white) for general balance, and
4000K to 5000K (cool white) near mirrors for precise grooming and makeup application
